Bad news: Think of the joy people felt when Obama won. The tears of extreme joy that were shed. Then think... last night, tears were shed in joy, and in horror. Many bans on gay rights occurred in quite a few states this election. Peoples hopes and dreams- dashed. Equality took quite a blow last night.
I wish someone would take a picture. Take a photograph of a LGBT cafe, where people are turned with horrified faces to the tv, clutching to their partner, to their loves, and hearing that they are not allowed to have the same rights as everyone else. They are not equal. And they are so saddened, so completely heartbroken... words just cant describe it. I am saddened. I keep thinking, is Massachusetts next? Will the Christian right be so heartened by this that they move to ban gay marriage across the US? WHY. WHY does it matter SO much to them? It doesn't affect their lives one way or another. Controlling other peoples lives is WRONG. I really can't conceive of why anyone would go to such great lengths to destroy peoples lives that they have never even met. I...can't.
Here's to Obama. All of America is hoping for the best. We gave you our trust- don't abuse it.
